Ever since sin entered into the world the birthing of children has been complicated by some measure of travail.  God spoke sobering words to the woman in the hearing of her husband and the serpent, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children.” (Gen 3v16)  Sin has brought such complexities and agonies that the way of deliverance into new life always involves travails of different kinds too.
