Subtitled “Unleashing the Father’s Presence into your life” this book by a pastor from Florence Alabama seeks to explain what was in God’s heart when He first made man and helps to explore the relationship that He desires to have with each believing person through the Holy Spirit. The chapters are short, and the book just over one hundred and fifty pages long. Some will feel that there is perhaps overmuch personal testimony and allusion whilst others will quite appreciate the personal anecdotes which are narrated. There are some good quotations from the godly men and women of the centuries to illustrate the points the author makes. All makes for a readable book, helpful in giving an account of the overriding purpose of God with man. The author carries us through from Eden to the final chapters of the book of Revelation tracing threads that bind the whole story of God together. Some will find this assists them in tracing God’s wise design for man for many of us only see piecemeal and not the whole story as we ought. It is good to know that we have been created that we might see the Lord’s face, hear His voice and experience His presence. That these three things are the normal Christian experience and the author touches on other aspects that go to make up the true Christian life. Perhaps it is in the books favor that it does not go too deeply into these things, but rather introduces the reader to the narrative of God’s ways with mankind. There are not too many books around which cover so much ground in a readable style and in such a short compass, so this one would be helpful to any reader.
