HUNGRY FOR MORE OF JESUS

Author DAVID WILKERSON Publisher RICKFORDS HILL PUBLISHING ISBN 978-1-905044-10-8

This book was originally published in the United States in 1992; this edition (a British one) has retained the same title and is available at a very economical price.  It is well worth getting and reading. David Wilkerson has been a well-known name in Christian circles for fifty years.  He and the work the Lord did through him known as Teen Challenge brought him into the forefront of Christian work.  The book “The Cross and the Switchblade” documents his ministry in New York during the 1960’s.  In these latter years he felt the Lord calling him back to New York and the result has been the establishment of the Times Square Church in the center of that city.  This man is one of the well tried and taught men of God of our day.  His ministry has a prophetic quality, it is clear, powerful, relevant and God glorifying.  All this is captured in the short chapters of this book.  For those who are looking for ‘fast food’ kind of reading this is not for you, but for those desiring something of food from heaven, truth that comes from a man who has been through the mill and the oven too, the doctrine found here is good bread indeed.  There are twenty short chapters and these are divided into three sections entitled “Feeding on Christ,” “The Cost of Hungering,” and “God Meets us in our Hunger.”  I mention that there is something prophetic about the ministry and writing of David Wilkerson and if I mention the descriptive words concerning New Testament prophecy used by Paul the apostle these will tell you what to expect as you go through this book.  New Testament prophetic ministry contains comfort, exhortation, up building, doctrine, revelation, knowledge, conviction and judgment.  All are to be found in these pages.  This book is about Jesus, it is about holiness and it is written by a man of our day for the church of today.  I would commend these chapters to you; they could be used in house and small group discussions, focusing as they do on the essentials of the Christian life.
