THE SPIRIT OF FALSE JUDGMENT

A short book of seventy two pages containing an important message for the body of Christ. It is written by an English lady, she together with her husband head up a charismatic ministry based in Georgia and you can obtain a copy from their ministry. The book is couched in terms that characteristically reflect the Christian charismatic scene. There is plenty of personal testimony included in the book but this should not prevent the reader from considering with great seriousness the central burden expressed. The Lord has been blessing His body but the riches of His grace being outpoured has been severely hampered by a spirit of false judgment which is playing havoc among Christians. The tendency to judge others by ones own personal standards and convictions rather than by the word of God as expressive of His heart is manifest in many, many churches. A religious spirit has prevailed and yet there is another place from which to view all things, another perspective is gained from living in the heart of God rather than in this religious spirit. A judgmental spirit comes at best from a person living from the natural man, and often it is overlaid with a spirit that is from the wicked one. Certainly this spirit has nothing of the grace of God present in it or the love from which grace has its rise. The result is a constant rehearsal of failure, the pointing of the finger, forgiveness reluctantly given and only in a limited way, the hatchet buried but with the handle still visible. These things splinter the churches and impair the blessing of God flowing. Many are afflicted with this spirit and as it is indulged it inflicts pain upon others, heaping continual shame upon them and so the Lord’s people help to do the devils work for him. Some people would find themselves unwilling to read a book of this nature and thereby miss the main substance that we all need to hear and respond to. Let me close with a quote from the author, “The Bible says that the whole of creation is anxiously longing to see the manifestation of the sons of God. His glory will only be seen as we forsake the things that dishonor Him and we learn not to judge and condemn one another, but to love one another fervently with a pure heart.”
